Introducing Queerpedia: A Remarkable Journey!
Hold onto your rainbow hats because we’re about to take you on a thrilling ride through the fantastic world of Queerpedia! From the 22nd to the 24th of August 2023, something truly magical happened in the southwestern part of Nigeria.
Queerpedia was born with a grand vision – to empower 20 vibrant LGBTQI+ individuals in Nigeria, helping them unleash their stories and experiences onto the global stage of Wikipedia. It’s not just an initiative; it’s a groundbreaking movement aimed at equipping Queer Nigerian voices with the tools and resources they need to ensure their stories are told and celebrated accurately.
We are delighted to share a momentous achievement with you: the pièce de résistance! An article titled “The Impact of Colonialism and Religion on LGBT Rights in Nigeria” has now found its permanent place on Wikipedia. And the most remarkable part? This extraordinary accomplishment is the result of the dedicated efforts of our Queerpedia Residential program in the Southwest region of Nigeria!
But that’s not all! Prepare to meet the latest Wikipedia sensation – none other than the LGBTQ+ Rights activist extraordinaire Dare Odumoye! Thanks to the dedication and hard work of one of our Queerpedia fellows, Dare now has a shining presence on Wikipedia.
At the Bisi Alimi Foundation, we’re always excited and motivated to champion our community in every way possible right here in Nigeria. We’re proud to be part of a changing world and trust us when we say we’re leading the charge.
For some snippets from the Southwest residential training, you can see it right here. Or why not join us on our Queerpedia page @baf_queerpedia on Instagram?
Thank you so much for your unwavering support towards our foundation! We love you!
Stay fabulous and stay Queerpedia-powered!
